Salome Dress Details (And Launch Date!)

Dear lovelies,

I have been very pleased with your positive response from the sneak peek photo I posted on my last journal entry on the Salome dress. Thank you for appreciating the work that I do and all the kind words!

Because of the interest you have shown, I thought it’d be nice to share all the design details I have put into the creation of the Salome dress. The inspiration from the dress came from me searching for a perfect dress for my body type and lifestyle here in Japan. I love the Japanese aesthetic of long, flowing, and shapeless silhouettes but my body type is not just right for it here where everything is smaller. I like wearing dresses because it’s the easiest way to look put together but I love those that have the whole throw-on-and-go vibe. Nothing fussy. Nothing that entails me pulling something down every now and then because I just can’t be bothered to do so.

I made sure that the Salome dress offered the flowing Japanese aesthetic that I like but still had a bit of structure to achieve a polished and clean look. I am very pleased with the structure of the dress! It hugs the body in all the right places but is still roomy enough to go about your business knowing you still look good as you move about. There is also a yoke at the back to address swayback issues.

I can go on and on about its superb fit but here are the other lovely details about the Salome dress:

  1. Coconut buttons

2. The hemline

I wanted a longer hemline at the back of the dress to provide a bit of coverage at the back of the knees. The original design had a square-ish hem but, in the end, I went for an overall round hemline that is so subtle and yet so elegant. The front hemline is still shorter than the back but the smart engineering of the hem makes the transition from short to long so artful.

3. Pockets!

Who doesn’t love pockets?!?! The Salome dress has that all-important pocket discreetly hidden in the side seams, a subtle nod to the clean lines of the Japanese aesthetic.

Clearly, there are so many things to love about the Salome dress. And the good news is, dear lovelies, you won’t have to wait for so long! Please save the date because I will be launching the Salome dress on 28 September 2021! Yes, a week from now!
