4 Reasons to Love Japanese Cotton

Choosing the fabric for Quaintrelle probably took the longest time as I was planning the launch of my hero dress. I went through lots and lots of fabric swatches. Right from the start, I knew that I wanted my fabric to be made of natural fibers and eco-friendly and Japanese cotton happened to fit the bill.

Being based in Japan has given me access to this lovely fabric and today, I’m sharing why I absolutely adore this fabric:

  1. Soft

Because of its fine yarns, Japanese cotton is just yummy on the skin because it’s soft! Not only does this mean that the fabric is gentle on the skin - making it appropriate for sensitive skin - but it also lends a luxurious feel when worn. Compared to other cottons, Japanese cotton has a silkier feel to it, making it feel truly divine on the skin.

  2. Durable and strong

Japanese cotton is woven using very long fibers and this results to fabric that is durable and strong. Because of its tight and strong weaves, Japanese cotton lasts longer and is resistant to piling and stress, helping clothes maintain their shape and quality.

  3. Breathable

Japanese cotton is very breathable. Due to its soft quality and tight and strong weaves, this fabric becomes exceptionally comfortable when worn and is perfect for balmy weather.

  4. Perfect for all seasons

Before you think that Japanese cotton is only good for warm weather, it is actually an ideal fabric for any season. It is cool and comfortable for spring and summer and it is also perfect for layering in the cooler seasons with cashmere and cable knit sweaters.

We are down to our last three (3) days to pre-order the Salome dress! Please remember that pre-ordering assures you of owning one of these dresses. There is very little chance that I will be producing extra pieces from my production partner so pre-ordering really is the way to go.
